Baubles, Seedheads, Orange, Red, Orange
These stunning seedheads look great in any garden. Their elegant shapes are enhanced by pattern carved through coloured slips. The clay is totally vitrefied making them sturdy and hardy enough to live all year outside, even in a Canadian winter. Of course you can love them inside as decor pieces as well!
They start life as a lump of clay on the potters wheel. After some manipulation and a hand built top they are decorated with studio made coloured slips, carved, fired, glazed with a studio formulated clear glaze, then fired again to 1280 degrees Celsius. Each has a 1/4 inch / 0.635 cm hole for mounting on a metal rod.
Numbers 1 is 9.5 cm wide and 15 cm tall.

Ceramic Care
These pieces are pretty sturdy, but will break on impact with a harder surface. For more detailed information read "Ceramic Care" on this site under "studio".
Installation Tips
The seedheads will accommodate a 1/4 inch / 0.64 cm metal rod which should be firmly seated in the ground before adding the pottery. Please do not use the pottery to push on the rod as the ceramic may crack.
In the centre of the underside of the top (inside the piece) there is a ring which forms a divot for the rod to slot into, which will keep the piece upright once installed. The hole in the base is made slightly larger than it needs to be to compensate for shrinkage and possible warping in the kiln. If you find that the piece moves around too much, a bit of tape around the rod just inside the base will make it nice and snug.
